S.M.A.R.T Goals

Goals are important to help you progress both in your business life and personal life; they give you a focus, challenge you, help acquire new skills and play an integral part in your development. In order to motivate yourself you need to have business & personal goals, we all need to have a goal and reason for why we work. The majority of people get more excited about personal goals.

Your Goals need to be SMART goals, this will provide you the clarity, focus and motivation you need to achieve your goals.

S - Specific - The goal should have a clear, highly-specific endpoint. If your goal is too vague, it won’t be SMART.

M - Measurable - You need to be able to accurately track your progress, so you can work out when a goal will be met.

A - Attainable - Setting a goal that’s too ambitious will see you struggle to achieve it, it needs to be something that is achievable.

R - Relevant - The goal you pick should be applicable to your chosen field, or should benefit you directly.

T - Time Bound - Setting a timeframe for your goal helps measure it further and keep your focus on track.

Grand Dream Goal
You are allowed to dream and should have an ultimate achievement in life.  It is healthy, exciting and personally motivating.  The light may be small at the end of the tunnel for this type of goal, but always remember that there is a light!

Put something down that you would like in 20 years time.  It is amazing what people have achieved within this time frame.

“If people don’t laugh at your goals, then they are not big enough”

Tip for if you’re running a team: It is important you know what members of your team want personally, big or small. If you can explain and show them how they can achieve their goals through your company’s career path, then your team members are more likely to be more motivated to strive for higher results.
